Securing an easy to manage website

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Personal and Corporate website development is at an all time high. This is because, and I think it’s obvious, everyone wants a website. More importantly, an easy to manage website. Unfortunately, there is more to consider than just the graphic design skills and the technical design skills of your local website design developer. Because the World Wide web is an incredibly fast paced technology, a new website owner has a need to be able to easily manage the site for himself, with as little need for HTML skills as possible.

If you compare a professionally designed website and professionally branded site with a site that has been done with someones graphics tool, you will see what I mean. The graphics tool site will not appear as inviting to web surfers , for one thing, and just won’t help much in maintaining a customer base.

Due to the escalation of importance in the web today, more and more potential clients are using the web as their first stop in shopping for the product they will want to buy. They use it as a source of new and updated information. The problem here is that a lot of sites are not up to date and therefore are less relevant to the product than they should be.

In fact, there are surveys that have been done just recently that point to the fact that over 50 percent of shoppers would be unlikely to do business with a company that did not have an up to date and relevant website.

One of the reasons for this problem is that when a company is purchasing a site, they fail to take into account the issue of how they are going to manage the website content. Then they fail to set enough time aside to do it themselves.

In todays economic times, the cost is usually a small one, when you compare other management costs , to do this. This means many companies leave their websites outdated and not relevant to their current services and offerings. Doing this only helps their competition and will not reflect their current brand of products and may be inaccurate for pricing of products and services.

Besides this, businesses have to make sure that the website is current and relevant if they wish to get traffic that is coming from the web via search engine results and website relevance design. Unique content is king here also.

Attaining back links is a crucial function of website relevance design and being able to offer current and unique accurate content is a very effective way to promote your products and services on the web.

Here is an example that might help. An accounting company would have terms such as , “Professional Accounting Services”, or “Professional Bookkeeping Services”, within the website content to help the search engines find them.

So having an easy to manage website, needing little or no HTML skills, is needed for most businesses to approach internet marketing and promotion with an advantage over their competitors. If you are able to login and make changes in real time, performing such functions as uploading images and adding text and pages, you will be able to add keyword phrases that will target your product or services and allow clients to find you via the search engines.

If you plan to diversify at some time, you will also be able to change text and images as needed, cost effectively through the admin section and it will be possible to represent your products relevantly and effectively.
